Privacy Policy
INTRODUCTION
This privacy policy explains how I, Adam Bridges (“I”, “me”, “my”), the creator of Achoo, use your personal data to provide you with the Achoo mobile application (The “Achoo App”).
I am committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. I ask that you read this Privacy Policy carefully as it contains important information about what personal data I collect from you and how I will use it. HOW I PROCESS YOUR DATA
There are two main purposes for which I process personal data and the type of data that is processed to fulfill each purpose:
1. To provide the Achoo App’s services and understand your needs
When you use the Achoo App, it collects, stores, and uses some personal and non-personal data to provide you with the Achoo App’s services. I also process your personal data in order to understand your needs and your use of the Achoo App, to analyze bugs and fix issues, and to bring you more useful features.
These are the types of data I collect for the above purposes:
Device data
This data informs me about the device you use to access the Achoo App’s services, such as the model, name and identifiers, device settings, the application identifier, and crash information.
Event and usage data
When you use the Achoo App, its servers process anonymised data in order to understand your usage of the Achoo App’s services, for example, which tab in the app you open. I collect this information and use it as aggregate data so that I can better understand which features are the most relevant or useful to my users as a whole, and to communicate with you about relevant and timely information and promotional content.
All the data I collect is necessary for me to deliver the services you use. The amount I collect has been minimised wherever possible to respect your privacy.
2. To deliver personalised insights and enhance the Achoo App’s services
The data you input into the Achoo App about your health and the location data that is collected from your device is considered sensitive personal data. This data is important to use features such as your level of contagiousness and the heat map of potentially contagious areas. Identifying data that you input into the Achoo App is personal data. This data is important to use features such as creating a profile to back up your data on the Achoo App to its servers.
Here is the type of data that is collected and stored:
Health data
Your health data will be stored, such as the symptoms that you have inputted into the Achoo App.
Location data
Upon your consent and when in use, the Achoo App will collect the latitude and longitude provided by your mobile device to deliver the Achoo App’s services to your device.
Identifying data
Identifying data such as your name, email, sex, and birthdate will be stored.
Providing this information is entirely voluntary, and it is up to you how much information to input.
YOUR CONSENT FOR PROCESSING YOUR DATA
Upon your use of the Achoo App, any personal data is stored on your device and is also stored and processed on the Achoo App’s servers.
By using the Achoo App you explicitly consent that:
I store and process personal data you provide through the usage of the Achoo App solely for the purpose of providing the Achoo App’s services to you and to improve the Achoo App’s service features. Such services may include enabling heat map readings or sending you information and reminders through the Achoo App, e.g. via push notification.
You may withdraw your consent to this use of your data at any time by contacting achoo@adambridges.ca.
DATA SECURITY
I apply security measures to protect against the misuse, loss, and/or alteration of personal data under my control. Though I cannot ensure or guarantee that misuse, loss or alteration of information will never occur, I use all reasonable efforts to prevent it. Although I make good efforts to store the non-public information entered into the App in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, I cannot guarantee complete security. I cannot and do not guarantee that our security measures will prevent third party “hackers” from illegally accessing the Achoo App and obtaining access to content or information thereon.
How I store your personal data
Your data is transmitted between your device and the Achoo App’s servers using the HTTPS protocol for encryption.
Disclosure of your personal data
I will share some of your personal data with third parties only where it is strictly necessary to provide the Achoo App’s services to you, where required by law or where I have another legitimate interest to do so. Personal data may be shared in the following circumstances:
Technical Service Providers: technology service providers, payment providers, and data storage providers;
Third Party Apps: some of your personal data may be shared with such Apps. Please see the section below for further information;
When required to do so by law, regulation or court order;
In response to a legitimate request for assistance by the police or other law enforcement agency;
To seek legal advice from my external lawyers or in connection with litigation with a third party;
In connection with the sale, purchase or merger of our business.
DATA TRANSFER TO THIRD-PARTY APPS
Google Firebase
In the Achoo App I use Firebase (https://www.firebase.com), a framework maintained by the Google subsidiary Firebase residing in San Francisco, CA, USA, through which I use to track and administer the following real-time functions:
Performance Monitoring
Authentication
Cloud Firestore
Firebase Crashlytics
Cloud Functions
Cloud Storage
For all mentioned Firebase services, only anonymized or pseudonymized user data is transmitted to Firebase (Google). Your data is safely stored and secured for all of the aforementioned listed Firebase services, which automatically encrypts all data before it is stored as can be read here: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy#data_encryption

TRACKING DATA
The Achoo App uses third-party analysis and tracking services to track the performance of its services, understand how you use its services, and offer you an improved and safer experience.
Information on your usage of the Achoo App may be collected and processed by me, or a third party engaged by me using a unique identification number assigned to you. Information about your usage will be deleted as soon as this information is no longer required for the purpose collected, and will always be anonymised before sharing with third parties besides those mentioned underneath.
Your consent for Achoo tracking and analysis
By using the Achoo App you consent that I may use third-party services and collect your usage data under a unique identifier, for the purposes of tracking, analysis, and improvement of the Achoo App.
For the purpose of tracking the performance of the Achoo App’s services and to improve its services, I use the following third party services:
Google Analytics
The Achoo App uses Google Analytics, an analysis service operated by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics allows for anonymous analysis of your mobile app use and interactions (for example what screens you are visiting most in the Achoo App) in order to personalise your experience and improve the Achoo App’s services. I use Google Analytics in the Achoo App to recognise users visiting the Achoo App, track users as they navigate the Achoo App, improve the Achoo App’s usability, analyse the use of the Achoo App, and administer the Achoo App.
Google analyses this information to offer reports for me on the online usage of associated services. Google may also transfer this information to third parties either when this is required by law or when third parties are contracted by Google to process this data. Google will not allow your IP address to be linked to any other personal data.
MARKETING, COMMUNICATIONS, SURVEYS AND NEWSLETTER ACTIVITIES
By using the Achoo App, you consent to receive informational or promotional push notifications periodically from the Achoo App. You also consent to me contacting you via email if you have contacted me for questions or support requests in connection with my services or the Achoo App. You can withdraw your consent at any time and you can disable notifications sent by the Achoo App in your device settings.
YOUNG USERS
I do not knowingly collect or use personal data from children under the age of 13.
If I gain knowledge that information has been collected from children under the age of thirteen in Canada or the United States in contradiction with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act or Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, respectively, and the regulations thereunder, I will not disclose this data and reserve the right to immediately delete the account and wipe all related information, including health and sensitive data of the user, from the Achoo App’s servers.
If you are located in the EU, you can only use the Achoo App if you are over the relevant age at which you can provide explicit consent to the processing of your data under the laws of your country or if you have the consent of your parent or legal guardian. If you are a parent and learn that your child is using the Achoo App without your permission or if you have any specific question about data privacy, do not hesitate to get in touch with me at achoo@adambridges.ca.
CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
I reserve the right to amend this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the law, my data collection and data use practices, the features of the Achoo App’s services, or advances in technology. Please check this page periodically for changes. If I make a change to this Privacy Policy that, in my sole discretion, is significant, I will notify you either within the Achoo App or email.
